I got up this morning, the storm has passed...They say the best time to beach comb is just after the storm...So those who know me well...Know I'm off to look for treasures.( This is a picture from our Vacation.. First week in Aug.) I am still wishing and dreaming and hoping...IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO LIVE NEAR THE BEACH...YOU ARE TRULY LUCKY ENOUGH!

The beach was beautiful...

Now I come to this beach often...This is the first time I have ever seen the light on in the light house!

I walked the beach for awhile looking for shells..One of the things I love to do...But to my surprise...no shells...Not because I got there late...Just not a shell to be found? But I did notice that there was a lot of other stuff that had washed up on the beach instead!

So I started taking pictures...Something else that I love to do! Here are a few of my treasures...

This boat has been here for years...Did not move an inch!

More beach finds...Found two cool fishing lures...Will be going in the found on the beach jar!

No shells yet...But saw lots of these...

FINALY...after about an hour of walking, I found shells...This summer on vacation I spent hours looking for these shells with my daughters and granddaughters....My oldest daughter wanted to make necklaces with these shells (cockle clams ) with my granddaughters...Spending time with my girls..one more thing that I love to do...

Now the next thing I saw was plenty of little bags of poop...Come on people..so nice of you to clean up after your dog...But I think these need to go to a trash can!!! It was a great morning , I have never seen so many dogs on the beach... AND so many bags of poop just sitting around waiting for the poop Fairy to come and take them away...

I think this says it all!

Beautiful morning...Thank you God...I have had one more wonderful summer! Spending time with the ones I love...Doing the things that make me happy.

Summer....So warm...so laid back...My favorite time of the year!

Now this is from our vacation...I was lucky enough to get to spend time with my beautiful granddaughters...We went to Ripley's Aquarium...They had live Mermaids to entertain the little people, A salon so the little girls could dress up like mermaids and have their picture taken...Oh I had so much fun...So much so, I ask Eleanore, lets have a Mermaid party for your birthday in Oct...As you can see they are having just as much fun as I was having!!! ( They really did have a great time) LOL.

I kid you not...this was the last treasure I found after a two hour walk on the beach...If you know me well...Then you know I belive in signs... I got up this morning to go enjoy what could be the last walk on the beach this Summer...( it is the end of Aug.) This summer has been filled with thoughts of mermaids and little girl dreams for me...There was a time not to long ago that I ask God...Please let me stay here just a little longer to get to know my granddaughter...to spend time with her, get to know her, to love her... not only did I get to stay long enough to make memories with her..I am making them with her little sister...Thank you God for a summer filled with mermaids and little girl DREAMS!!!

A perfect ending to a perfect morning... All my treasures home and clean and my all time fav. cup of coffee!

South Carolina Sea Turtle Release

3 loggerhead sea turtles and 4 green sea turtles were released back into the ocean! This was the largest release in the program’s history and took the Aquarium Hospital to over 50 sea turtles that have been rehabilitated and released by the South Carolina Aquarium. The release took place on the first official day of nesting season in South Carolina, Saturday, May 1st 2010 and began at 3:30pm at the Isle of Palms County Park ...

If you're like me, your tootsies get a little less TLC in the cooler, closed-toe-shoe months. Maybe you even neglect them. So before you expose your feet, and others to them, consider spending a few minutes giving them the attention they deserve....

LADIES IT IS TIME TO GET YOUR

SUMMER TOES READY...

My sixteen year old daughter loves these Gladiator sandals...I was told by the sweet girl that helped us that they continue to fly off shelves at Copper Penny Shooz, especially with high school and college students, They’re great for walking between classes and around downtown. Made by Sam Edelman and selling for $129.

Foot care
The first thing to do is examine your feet for any problems you'll need to take care of, In particular, check the nails for discoloration which could be a sign of fungus.
Next, trim the nails straight across using quality nail clippers. leaving 1/8 of an inch of length. Use an emery board -- not a metal file -- to shape the nails and smooth the corners. emery boards are finer and less likely to split the nail. Always work across the nail in one direction instead of sliding back and forth.
Soak your feet in Epsom salt and warm water for at least five minutes. This softens the skin... And it's great to do if your feet are swollen or sore.
Buff away rough skin using a foot paddle or pumice stone...
Another option for exfoliating the feet is using a mixture of brown sugar and olive oil, The next step is to moisturize, and hydration is key after winter months, Consider a lotion designed especially for the feet.
"Shea butter balms are fantastic, They're just a little bit thicker than you would use on the rest of your body, a little bit more luxurious. They'll soak into the feet a little more because the skin there can be tougher."
Gently push back the cuticles using a Q-tip... If excess cuticle appears over the nails, snip it with a cuticle nipper.
If you're not interested in color, voila! Your pedicure is complete.
But who doesn't like color?

Styling your toes
TIPS for painting your nails:
--First swipe nail polish remover over your nails to take off any oils from the moisturizer. Otherwise the polish won't stay.
--Apply a clear base coat in three strokes per nail -- one up the middle and then one on either side. The base coat prevents the upcoming pigment from penetrating and discoloring the nail.
--Wait 30 seconds to a minute before adding your nail color, using three strokes per nail like you did with the base coat. Do two coats of color, waiting 30 seconds to a minute in between. The "tacky" feeling is fine.
--Your top coat comes next. If you used a dark nail color, consider a top coat that is quick dry. Nail colors with more pigment are denser and so take longer to dry.
--Your nails may take an hour to be completely dry. "Color dries from the top down. It may feel dry on the top, but your under color may still be a little wet."
--A helpful hint: When painting nails, swirl the brush around the inside of the bottle to remove excess, instead of dragging it up and out against the rim. "When you wipe across the top and then you put the brush back in and close the bottle, you actually haven't sealed the bottle, and over time the polish will get thick." If polish does get on the rim, clean around the neck of the bottle with nail polish remover.
All about color
Brighter, lighter colors are in for spring and summer.
Pinks and Reds -- (but not dark reds) -- are the most popular hues selected this time of year... corals, pinks (from very soft to peony) and a putty color are the hottest shades this season.
And a new trend toward Greens and Blues.
"Although bright colors in general are the most sought after for summer, I am seeing my daughters friends wearing kelly greens, crystal blues and lilac purples."
To prolong your paint job, reapply a top coat once or twice a week, This also can help refresh the paint job after swimming in a chlorinated pool, which can dull polish, or walking in abrasive sand.
Wearing sandals prolongs the pedicure as well, as you are not getting the wear on the paint from constant contact with socks and shoes, another benefit of warmer weather...

Hey all you Pinkies.....Come on in it's a party...or a new MEME... And my motto is... Always show up at a party with a camera and a plate of cookies...And the chance's are good you will be invited back....

I do hope that some of you by now know that I am trying to get a new MEME off the ground...pick a name...get a button made and get Mister Linky up ... all by the first week of June...

This is what I have picked as the new button...Need to fill it in with a name...And I would love your help with the name and to help spread the news...I also hope that you will join in on all the fun...

I live in South Carolina...I love where I live...Lots of wonderful things go on here and around town...Lots of people in blogville have come to Charleston to vacation...You love where you live ...lots of wonderful things happen in your town...A couple of weekend's ago we had the Bridge Run, about 40 thousand people walked or ran this race, The Summerville Flowertown Festival , and the Cajun Fest...all taking place here...and I would love to share this with all of you.. What big event takes place where you live... Maybe your vacation...Do you have a favorite restaurant , your child's B-Day party...The list goes on if it happens in your town and you like to talk about it ...You can bet that someone here in blog land wants to hear about it... Oh yes I do have a mirror at my house...Yes I am going to run in this outfit...How did you know that my buddies bet me fifty dollars to run in this get -up...

Twenty five minutes after the gun went off the last of the runners and walkers went over the start line....

Oh yea there was more than one...

On the way back to my car I had to walk by the Dunkin Donuts shop...And for those that know me I HAD to go in....

Yes coffee was calling my name...And you know I had to have a donut...

I am getting ready for Easter at my home...as we all are... I will have a few little people at my home for Easter... Dear Julie,I will be happy to participate in your Meme, entitled "I love where I live, and I have already something in mind, a post I did earlier (like maybe a year ago, about all the Murial's in my town of Lakeland, GA)...the Cherokee Indian Powwow post can be called "I love where I live close to?" ;-) I don't even know how close it is, it's probably a 4 hour ride from here, but I'll know more once I return. There are lots of nice placed in my local town, for instance, Bank's Lake that was once famous for shooting a film with Burt Reynolds called "Gator" and the DVDs of the movie are still being sold at the Outpost there...I'll be happy to help in any way I can, but I will need guidance because I normally don't participate in memes. I CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW FAST THIS WEEK HAS GONE BY... If you have little people in your life...then you also know that it's time to go see the Easter Bunny...

So we dolled Little Miss Babycakes up..and took her to see the BUNNY...

She so wanted to check the Bunny out...But not get to close... So we played hand the egg back and forth for awhile... BUT Little Miss was NOT going to sit on that Rabbits lap...SO

Look how cute she looks sitting on Mimi's lap next to the Bunny...Well... a girl has to do... what ever it takes to get the picture...

OUT DOOR WEDNESDAY

Hi...Come on out to the porch....a small sneak peak at the porch...If you have been following my blog for a while now,you know that we added a great new porch off the back of our home...

So last night the weather here in SOUTH CAROLINA was perfect for dinner on the porch...We had... Herb Roasted Pork with Honey Dijon Mustard...Wild Rice Pilaf...peas...asparagus... broccoli...(some what of a veggie nut) and a glass of the best red wine ...

I would like to let you know that Purple Cowboy Wine... Foremost, the profits from the sale of this wine are to raise funds for the Tough Enough To Wear Pink organization. In many cultures the sound of a cork popping out of a bottle is synonymous with joy and celebration. But do you know where a cork actually comes from and what it really is? Before it was a wine bottle stopper it was bark on a tree...

The cork oak tree, QUERCUS SUBER, grows in Portugal and other countries which border the western edge of the Mediterranean basin.

Cork is made from the bark of the cork oak tree. It is a renewable and sustainable resource making it a very environmentally friendly product. In cork oak plantations, the first cork bark is not harvested until a tree is 25to30 years old, and harvesting is done carefully by hand to ensure the health of individual trees. After harvesting, the bark of the cork oak re-grows completely, with a smoother texture after each harvest. Due to strict regulation, the individual cork oak is harvested only once every nine years. The cork oak tree itself can live for 150 to 200 years old...well after multiple harvests.One tree can produce 400 wine corks...

Cork harvesting:The process of manually stripping off the bark in sections is a tradition that dates back centuries. Cork is harvested from the cork oak tree that is grown primarily in only seven countries around the Western Mediterranean basin including Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. Portugal with 30% of the cork trees in the world is the largest producer of cork today.

HAPPY ST.PATRICK'S DAY

I think it is just to cool that St.Patrick's day fell on Out door Wednesday....Saturday I went to the 7th annual St.Patrick's day block party and parade, this Annual North Charleston events get more exciting every year , held in a little pocket part of town called Park Circle...The afternoon started with a Parade....

Baby cakes was so excited to see the parade start....Motor cycle cops led the way...

The parade's grand marshal was none other than North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey...

Cool cars...

The SPCA had a large group...But... by the time I got Miss Lucy to settle down, this was the only picture I got of the dogs...

The Fire Department was last in line...

This is Belinda Roberts of the Hat Divas club and her dog Chapeau.I meet them at the block party...I do hope to get to know them better...The Hat Diva Society is a non-profit service organization... as part of the Hat Divas, a group of women who boast flamboyant head wear but also exude a deep commitment to helping the less fortunate.

A little cutie ....His shirt says Kiss me I'm cute...Yes he is.

The SPCA was selling these...Oh Yes I now have one of my very own...

We ate at the Barbeque Joint stand....The sandwich was wonderful....

They had a little green pig on the table...Now you know I can not pass up a pig Picture...

We had a lot of fun..Stayed for a couple of hours..but left before the drinking got started good...

A cute little green house on the way back to my children's home...They have been remolding this house for about a year now...They are almost done...Love the green color..Looks like green depression glass to me.

Babycakes walked Miss Lucy and I to the door to say good-by...We had a great day ...The weather was perfect... all the green actives and wonderful food...Time spent with your loved ones...what more could you ask for...

Irish Coffee Cupcakes
St. Patrick's day is next week, so I thought you might like a little chocolate yumyum to go with your coffee...

Irish Coffee Cupcakes (makes 15)
Ingredients: For the cupcakes:
2 c. flour1 t. baking powder
¼ t baking soda
¼ t salt
½ c boiling water
2 T instant espresso powder (you can use instant coffee or buy the instant espresso powder at Starbucks)
¼ c whole milk
1 stick unsalted butter at room temp
½ c. sugar
½ c packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
For the frosting:
1 c. heavy cream
1 T powdered sugar
1 T whiskey
Instant espresso powder for dusting

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 and line your cupcake tins.
Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Pour water over espresso powder and let cool. Combine espresso with milk. Beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar with a mixer on medium until pale and fluffy (about 3 mins.) Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition.

Beat in flour mixture 1/3 at a time alternating with espresso mixture beginning AND ending with flour. Batter may look broken. Fill muffin tins ¾ full. Bake 20-22 mins until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool, turn cupcakes out from tin.

To make frosting: Whisk together cream, powdered sugar until peaks form. Add whiskey and mix until slightly stiff peaks form. Top cupcakes with 2 T of frosting and lightly dust with espresso powder.

Spring is in the air...along with ST. Patrick's Day...So I thought a little green would get your Tablescape juices going..I'm joining Susan over at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. Mismatched silverware and china still look sophisticated with natural embellishments... Even when dining outdoors, you can forgo a tablecloth. Don't be afraid to use crystal goblets outside. The weather for the past few days has been absolutely beautiful so I headed outside... All the birds are getting back into town...As I ran a few errands I saw a few little finches busy building their nest... Yes Spring is on the way...

This is a male Painted Bunting...Is this just about the most beautiful bird that you have ever seen at a back yard feeder...an amazing combination of colors..A green back, deep blue head and orange chest and belly.Dark wings and tail... The female is bright green above, light green below...No other bird can compare with the Male's striking colors.. The female Painted Bunting is uniquely green and rarely confused with any other bird...

What's So Special About 'Alice in Wonderland'?

EVERYTHING
ALICE IN WONDERLAND, a magical and imaginative twist on one of the most beloved stories of all time. Alice was published in 1865 and has been adapted 25 times, according to Wikipedia ... The newest is the well-hyped Tim Burton version, that came out on Friday alongside five DVD re-releases. I saw this last night at the IMAX... Story line a little twisted.... But I think you will enjoy the special effects that the IMAX experience adds...

JOHNNY DEPP stars as the Mad Hatter... As Alice's true friend, the Mad Hatter has been awaiting her return. He will do anything to set things right in wonderland again, but he literally is mad -- an effect of the mercury poisoning that is a side effect of the hat making process.

Down the rabbit hole....

MIA WASIKOWSKA as 19-year-old Alice... who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends:

The White Rabbit "I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!"? The Rabbit has a very important date indeed. The fussy bunny is charged with finding Alice and luring her back down the rabbit hole. Things are amiss in "Underland," and many are hoping that Alice can help set things right.

Tweedledee and Tweedledum...The inhabitants of Underland are oppressed by the tyrannical Red Queen.

Bayard ( Timothy Spall is the voice of Bayard the Bloodhound ) The Red Queen is holding his family hostage, so Bayard must do her bidding, and has been forced to help the RED QUEEN, he is not on her side but he is secretly loyal to Alice and does his best to help. He is pictured here with the White Queen (Anne Hathaway plays the beautiful White Queen, Mirana) who is much kinder to him. Anne Hathaway plays the beautiful White Queen, Mirana, Mirana's older sister, the fiery and mean-tempered Red Queen, rules Underland, but the White Queen would so like to regain the crown. Her beauty and kindness radiate her light and airy surroundings, but she has a darker side as well.

The Dormouse....
She may be tiny, but her loyalty to that Mad Hatter is great, even though she does have a few issues with Alice.

The March Hare (voice of Paul Whitehouse) plays host for the Mad Hatter's tea parties... He too is a little off his rocker, and a very paranoid and nervous ball of fur, but he does love hosting tea parties and cooking.

TheCheshire Cat ...
A most mysterious creature who can appear and disappear at will. Chessur's sly smile and shifty ways intrigue and infuriate, and what is his real motive? we get a glimpse of the Cheshire's true character. I have always loved this cat...

Absolem, The Caterpillar... is the all-knowing and absolute guardian of the Oraculum, an ancient document that depicts every major event, past, present and future, in Underland’s history. Alice is taken by the White Rabbit and the Tweedles to meet Absolem, so that he can ascertain whether she is, in fact, the real Alice who first visited Underland as a child, the Alice who is destined to help them. They find the bulbous blue caterpillar atop a mushroom in a mushroom forest surrounded by misty smoke. Several times Absolem challenges Alice to come to a better understanding of herself, forcing her to face the difficult question: “Who are you?”

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS...
Helena Bonham Carter plays the tyrannical Red Queen Iracebeth, who has taken control of Wonderland The Queen's big head is both literal and figurative, and her red hair is fitting as well, considering her temper. A ticking time bomb ready to go off on a tantrum at the slightest annoyance, the Red Queen is determined to rule Underland, wearing the crown she stole from her sister, the White Queen.

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BIRD THE FLAMINGO IS... "When it hatches, the chick is covered with gray downy feathers. Their beaks are straight at birth so that they can be fed by regurgitation from their parents. After a few months the beak curves. They grow in their adult plumage after about two years. They become sexually mature at 6 years of age. The typical flamingo life span in the wild is up to 50 years." Source: CHILEAN FLAMINGO. They make their nests out of mud by piling the mud and forming it into a large mound about 15 inches in diameter and 1 to 2 feet tall. The female makes an indentation on the top where she will lay her egg. Incubation lasts 27-31 days, and both the mother and father sit on the egg.

The only naturally occurring flock in the United States is in the Florida Everglades...The Flamingo birds live in large groups all year long called colonies. Tens of thousands of birds can live in one colony! Within a colony, they breed in pairs...There are six species in the world: the Andean Flamingo (Phoenicoparrus andinus), the James Flamingo (Phoenicoparrus jamesi), the Chilean Flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensi), the Caribbean Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber), the Lesser Flamingo (Phoenconaias minor) and the Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus). They may at first glance look similar to each other, but certain features allow easy identification....

The Flamingos flight feathers are actually black with wing coverts that are darker pink that the rest of the body.

A striking feature that is only visible when the Flamingo is in flight or spreading its wings are the beautiful black feathers. This Flamingo picture shows the stunning black feathers. There are 12 principal flight feathers located on each wing. These black feathers are visible when the wings are extended.
Their pink coloring is caused by the beta carotene in their diet, of which shrimp and blue-green algae are the common sources... Thank You Squidoo...

Hello, Please do come in and sit a spell....As I told you last week I have had 1 more nasty fall....This has been a crazy year for me...So I am so backed up on Family Birthday dinners at my house... So last night we had 1 great big dinner for 2 of my son-in-laws and my sweet 16 year old daughter...Now my 16 year old daughters B-day is Jan.6th....see how far behind I am....So we had a big dinner last night all 12 of my loved ones were here...I started the dinner and my son-in-law (baby cakes dad) got here and took over for me... I tell ya I am one lucky lady, I have the most loving kids around...I am not sure what I would do without them...

Not only am I behind in B-Day dinners...I am just not getting the pictures I would like to get...Now my dad ( now gone) was an amateur Photographer...He had a dark room in our home when we were growing up...I have taken classes and have Dark room under my belt...and I have two daughters following in the foot steps....BUT ...last night only one camera in the house...WHATS UP WITH THAT... AND that one belonged to the poor little lady with one barely good leg... So this was the best picture taken all night long...( Now do not go back and look at all the pictures on this blog I started this blog less than a year ago...And I am almost always in a hurry and trying to fight the pain when I am taking pictures....(LOL)...(Cause I have to)... But all in all it was a wonderful night ...I am the happiest when I have all my family at home... Oh back to PINK SATURDAY... I used my Pink and Red Fiesta dishes last night...So see this is the best picture Fiesta Ware and ice cream...what more can you ask for?

Yes I have done it again....

I have fallen for the 7th time in a year...And look I am back in bed....I have shared with just a hand few, what 's going on in my life that keeps me falling....But I feel the need to share some with you all...I do have some long term issues that keep me falling and it affects how I am dealing with my blog...I am slow to getting around to all your blogs as much as I would like...I have not been able to post as much as I would like....And I am getting way behind...I have not forgotten you all....And I am going to get caught up...I PROMISE...

My sweet little granddaughter dressed in PINK...having a little lunch all snuggled up in bed with Mimi...

Some of my girls spent some time with me the other day....Watching TV in bed with me so I don"t have to be alone...

Yes that is my poor little ankle...Can you see how swollen...Nothing broken( did the X-Ray thing)

but do have to stay off of it as much as I can...

I do hope to be back on my feet soon,and I will get caught up with you all...

Good game and funny Super Bowl 2010 commercials....Did you see the new Doritos commercial....

The commercial features a guy who goes over to his girl's house for what appears to be a first date. She invites him in and goes off to freshen up, leaving the man alone with the woman's little boy. He says hello to the boy and grabs a Dorito out of a bowl sitting on the coffee table...The boy slaps the man and tells him he has "two rules."....You have to catch this one...I think Doritos had the best commercials this year....By far...

Super Bowl 2010 was all that and a Coke commercial...

Lets not forget 1/2 time....Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who perform....

Good Morning, Do come in, pull up a chair....This will be some what of a long post for me...One I have not been sure that I wanted to do....BUT...as I reflect I know many times in my life the experience of others has helped me more than you can imagine...So I am going to share what has been some year for me....The good and the not so good.... I started this blog after many months of stalking other blogs.... I needed an outlet... a happy place...I did not want to bring some of this stuff to my blog...but lots of days ...the things going on in my life would effect how I handle my blog....So part of me says share...You have had a new wonderful experience here in blog land...Met some really great people....I have been inspired...Learned a few new things...And when I am visiting you all it takes me to a happy place....BUT...Then can you share to much? Put it out there for who knows to read.... I like my blog...I like the people that come over for a visit...you get to know them...I can see pictures and know who house that the picture was taken at...BOY are we getting to know each other......

Fast forward: Oct.2008 the big day is here...Oh what a beautiful baby...I got to be at the birth , to see this little one come into the world...I cried tears of joy...thank you God for this day....She is all that I could of ask for , beautiful, healthy, planned and wanted...This picture is taken on my 50th birthday... Oct. 2008... I made it, 50 and a brand new grand baby....Things are so good... BUT....I have made an DR's appointment.... If you knew me well you might could read it on my face...I can see it in my eyes....My smile is hard to force, on a day that has brought me more joy than I can put into words...I have not said a word to anyone...we have been here before...WAITING TO SEE THE DR. All I want is HAPPY on this day... The news that, I think I need to see a DR. can wait...As I sit and hold her, what I am thinking is, Thank you God for this day ... Will I get to see her grow,will I sit at her wedding, will I see her children, Will you let me watch her grow into the wonderful young woman that I know she will become? PLEASE

Nov.2008, Friday night...My 26 year old daughter planned my 50th Birthday Party....It had to be delayed because of the new baby coming into our family.... The party was perfect...Such a surprise...34 family and friends showed up...We met and had dinner at Outback....I was so surprised.....I am hiding it well... we have not told the children yet...My husband knows...I had to have someone to take me the hospital on Monday... We have to tell them tomorrow but tonight...I love my life...I am loved...

Birthday dinner...Me and my girls... I thinking again ....Can you see it on my face? Tomorrow all things change.... I have to tell them...It can't wait any longer...

Dec.12...What a special night...My sweet babies 21 Birthday... 15 of us went out to eat...Her sweet sisters rented a limo so they could party the rest of the night and not drive... and because a limo on your 21 B-day is so much Fun... SO Why did I let them talk me into it...I should of said no...You see...It did not dawn on me until now as I sit and get this post ready...That I said YES I will start chemo today of all days.... I am smiling...but oh I feel so bad...You can read it on my husbands face...I could of and should of told them NO lets wait til Monday...I do not want my daughter to remember her birthday like this...

Christmas Day....I now am feeling so bad that it is hard to sit up...see the white bandage on my arm...under that is my Pick line....That's where they pump all that poison in... But look I do have to get past this I have 2 new wonderful little people in my life that I want to get to know...My sweet babycakes on the left,,,and my brothers new sweet baby girl on the right...

Yes I will fight hard...I have to...

Oh ...I tell you I have the most wonderful children...Whats in the bag you ask?...That is what I ask the night they all ran into my room laughing so hard they could hardly stand up...

Oh my sweet girls...They have been coming to the hospital now for a week and a half....But I have not seen my baby in so long and they thought that it would perk me up to have a visit from Miss Lucy....

Have I told you that I feel so loved..I truly am blessed...I have the most wonderful people in my life...And they were right I needed to see all of my family... I was in the hospital for awhile...I am smiling here and feeling no pain...After I had been home for awhile... my husband told me that he just knew that I was so sick and he did not think that I was coming back home...One of my Dr's told me that if I had been just a little older that I would NOT HAVE MADE IT...

My sweet sweet sweet daughter...can you tell how tired she is...Brand new baby...Her husband started a new job that sent him out of town for four months for training...and after she works all day she comes to the hospital to help me with my bath because my girls do not want the nurses to do it...stays with me till they give me my last med's for the night... and then goes homes about 9:00 pm just to have to get up the next morning and do it all over again....I know I am LOVED...

Look I am home ....getting better...Still not sure if I am cancer free...that will come later...We get a phone call it's my husband's sister she and my brother- in-law...my husbands brother... are coming to town just for the night....to go out for family dinner....now my husbands brother had to travel 61/2 hours to get here, just to go out to dinner...My family ...they are not saying it out loud...but I know they are still worried that I am not going to make....You see this is not my first ride on this Marry-go-round...

I love my Family...

It's now 5 months later...the cancer cells are GONE... I am loving my life...The Dr's consider you a success story if you make it to 8 month's and the cancer does not start to grow again....You see I had rectal cancer THIS TIME...Pretty rare...But oh so treatable...If FOUND in time...

The sun is warm...I am feeling no pain...thanks to med's...My family is around...I am grateful...

Babycakes one year Birthday....I shared it with you all...BUT...Now you see what I have not shared... I did share with just a few what was going on... I am feeling so much better...AND I AM CANCER FREE one more time... You may ask why am I sharing this now ..with you all... Well there is one more thing I need to tell you...Because of the radiation..I have fallen 6 times this year...2 times required a trip to the hospital...This past year I have been on very heavy pain med's dew to the falls... Some days the pain was so bad I could not get out of bed...Other days I would get up and could do a few things like blog ...One thing that has been a real source of joy for me this past few months... I started my blog at a time this year when I was feeling pretty good...Since I started this blog...I have had to many Dr's app's to keep track of... 4 Surgeries, an MRI... And a trip to the hospital for one of my falls and a whole lot of pain meds...I am telling you this so you will understand... that sometimes I am slow to respond when you give me an award...or ...a way over due Pay-it-forward...Or I will have enough energy to post... but then have a hard time getting around to leave comments on all of your sweet blogs...I need you all to know that you all have made this past year a little nicer for me...I am a doer..it's hard for me to sit...I ran 5k's... I did agility with my little girl Miss Lucy...I do not just sit at home very well...But all of your sweet blogs made me fell like I was getting out of my small world ... If Just for a little... while... So now with all that said..Oh and I will tell you I have what my nurses tell me they call chemo head...So my brain... with all that has been pumped into my poor little body this year... just does not work ... so yes I know you may have to read some post a few times and then you may still say HUH...

This was taken a few weeks ago...I am doing so much better... I am off all pain meds... and trying to get caught up with you all...I would like to link this to all the places that I like to go to play ...And I do hope all my friends in blog land see this and will understand why I some times am so slow to get done what needs to be done....

I have had it for many years...I have three, in different sizes and they stack to make a beautiful party table center piece...

And I thought this cute little doll all dressed in pink... would be to sweet to come over and refill your coffee cup...

Good Morning and A Happy Pink Saturday..... Last week my girls where out of school for a few days... We had a lot of fun stuff planned...One day we just played around the house, had a little fun cooking with some girl talk... Then Friday we went to eat down Town Charleston, at a place called Jim and Nicks... GREAT FOOD.... Right across the street from Jim and Nicks is one of my favorite places to shop...Williams-Sonoma...So I am with some of my favorite girls, at one of my favorite shops , and what do I see... The most adorable apron... It is a child's apron... IS this not the cutest thing you have ever seen...Maybe they will still have a few aprons left when they go on sale, and I can go back and buy a couple of them for those special little cooks ....That I just LOVE-LOVE-LOVE...

FOODIE FRIDAY-COOKING HAS COME FULL CIRCLE

School was out here today for a teacher work day....SOOO, I had all the little girlie's home...So this post is more of a cooking story ,than A recipe... I do hope you don"t mind... I do hope sweet Michael will forgive me....
Where did you learn to cook ? If you read my blog, you know I speak of my Dear Sweet Grandmother often... My Grandmother started me off cooking at the ripe old age of around five... As a matter of fact, I don't remember a time that I would spend the weekend at her home that we would not bake something... My Grandmother was a wonderful cook...So at the home of my Grandparents I would stand on a chair to reach the top of the counter and my Grandmother lovingly taught me how to measure and stir up the most wonderful treats....I still to this day love to bake...

Yes this is some of my girls ...After lunch, (I was so excited to have most of them home ) We turned the country Music up real loud ( their idea!!!) and the fun began... My Sweet sixteen year old (with spoon in hand) using it to stir some ...and then as a microphone some (we just went with the mood) Her best friend...holding my sweet granddaughter Babycakes... and my 9 year old granddaughter... They where singing and stirring and just having so much fun...They made blueberry muffins...

If the truth be told, I had the most fun...You see I do so love these sweet, wonderful young women in the making... They, not the music make my heart sing... I just love spending time with each of them... We sang, and laughed till I cried...

My sweet daughter and granddaughter....I think they are beautiful...inside and out.

Oh yea she did just drop the blueberries in the bowl....But don't worry they turned out great...Later as we sat and ate our blueberry muffins, I told them stories of all the fun I had learning to cook at the side of my grandmother...(Not the first time I have told the stories, but as I said, such great women in the making, they sit and listen as if it was the first time the stories where ever told) But maybe just maybe, they like to hear the stories as much as I like to remember them... I just told some of these stories around Christmas time,and the stories came with home made chocolate chip cookies-HUM?...
I just hope that someday, my children and grandchildren will pass on this fun, love and laughter... And I hope, one day , they are lucky enough to sit in the middle of their own circle , remembering where they came from...as they make new memories with the ones that fill their life with love. I love you Granny, I love you my sweet little girls...

Good Morning, do come in and sit awhile... A few weeks back Beverly ask us to do something special for a Pink Christmas post... She ask us to share a childhood memory about a special Christmas holiday.... So I told you about my Grand Parents.... Most of my memories from child hood center around time spent with my Grandparents...

My Grandparents loved to entertain... I do remember so many parties at my Grandparents home.... Lots of people, food music, and yes drinking... It would be a Family friendly party ,as far as I remember , children were at all the parties that took place at their home...

This is a great shaker from the 50's, to mix drinks in... I also have six drink glasses... When my Grandmother passed, This is one of the things that she left to me...

Is this just to fun... Pink Elephants and Stars....

No, this is not one of my favorite holiday decorations.... But, boy is this Pink wearing girl Cute Cute Cute... This is my special decorating helper Babycakes....

This is one of the special decorations around my home... ( Please excuse all dog and cat hair) As they like to help out also...

This is our tree skirt... I made this 31 years ago.... When I was pregnant with Baby Cakes Mommy...

Each little piece of felt had to be cut out...Then stitched to the skirt...

This tree skirt took me 684 hours to complete... I thought about retiring it this year....But my 15 year old would not hear of it... It has been under our tree now for 31 years....It has seen better days ...But my children love it....

Yes you know Miss Lucy, my other Pink wearing Christmas Decorating helper.... This is where all that hair comes from....But when you are this cute...You can get away with it...

My Grandmother was so in Vogue....She kept a wonderful home.....Growing up my grandparents lived in many homes... My Grandmother would sit and draw up house plans and then my Grandfather would build her the house.... They would live in them a few years and then they would build a new one.... the story that I would like to share was when I was about 5....My Grandparents loved to throw parties at Christmas..... The house would be all decked out ....we would all be dressed in our finest Christmas go to church ...... Lots of people, food music,at some point my Uncle would come into the room dressed as Santa...( I think I was six before I figured this out) Oh it was such a Magical time for a small child.... Most of my Grandparents homes where on the water....The home they lived in when I was five was just such a house....It was a big brick home, my grandmother built all of her homes with great big windows... In the middle of the home was a sunken Living room, you could stand in the front yard and look into the Big window, that was about the size of double sliding glass doors...but it was just one big piece of glass... You could see straight to the back of the house where there was two sets of sliding glass doors that opened on to the water .... You could see the dock ....And the boat that was kept in a boat house..... Oh and at Christmas all the lights at night would just take my breath away... Now in the front of this house...each year my grandparents would put up a Big Plastic Santa......

It was about 5 foot tall....Looked just like the one here (this one is much smaller) It would sit on the flag stone porch just in front of the Big Glass window....Just inside the Big glass window my Grandmother would have her tree... I would go outside at night....It would be so cold....But some how the Santa and the way the lights reflected all around... I would forget how cold it was.... I am not sure to this day WHY, but as a small child it was one of my Favorite things to do...Stand in the cold outside in the dark by that Great big Santa and Look into the house..at all of the wonderful decorations...

So when I found this Santa at Good Will a few years back....I knew that he would have to live at my home.... Each time I walk past him....He sits on a table in the entry way of my home....It takes me back to my Grandparents home and all the good memories that I have of that time...
Now this Santa here is no Spring Chicken the date on the back is 1968...So he was made just a few years after the one that my Grandparents owned... My Grandparents have been gone for many years now....But it feels just like yesterday that I was out on the porch in the cold...

Vintage Santa and Mrs.Santa candle decorations....I think they look great sitting on top of a pair of candle stick holders...

Just a few vintage Christmas decorations that belonged to my wonderful Grandparents.....

It is also now time for my home to get ready for Christmas My Favorite time of the year...My Husband and I got Married in December, We had a Christmas wedding... The Christmas tree was up and the Church was all decked out for this special Holiday... I love this holiday, Not so much running around buying stuff... Some of you know that October 24 was my Birthday..... That morning I got up early to go to yard sales... I had been out for about an Hour when my cell phone rang...It was my 15 year old daughter asking where I was..... She had spent the night at a friends house the night before....So I ask her where she was, she said that she was at home .... She had two of her good friends with her and she told me I needed to get home as soon as I could... When I got home they were waiting for me... They had gone out and bought me flowers....

Made me a card.....

And had my favorite coffee and a chocolate donut waiting for me.... It brought me to tears..what a sweet bunch of kids... By now I know you are asking what does this have to do with Pink Saturday....? Well just wait it is coming... Now at our home we do birthday dinners.... So now we have my birthday dinner and what did I get????

My kids have been teasing me for years that they were going to get me a snuggie.... I would laugh and tell them I DO NOT WANT AN UGLY SNUGGIE... They would all laugh and say but Mom you know that you are always cold... So I am now the proud owner of an ugly Snuggie....We all laughed so hard... They had me put it on and we all laughed some more....Now I will tell you that they are pretty warm.... Oh and it gets better....

Yes... if you have been following this blog then you had to know what was coming next...

That's right not one ...but two snuggies....

Yes Miss Lucy has her very own...

I do wish that I had ask for a snuggie sooner...

FIRST PARTY ON THE PORCH

We had friends over, and had our first dinner party on the porch...

This bunch of sweeties have Trick or Treated together now for ten years... Each year we all meet at my home to eat and then head out for a fun night of spooky fun... The girls all ate in the den... Now we head out to the porch...Please remember the porch is still a work in progress... The porch is almost done... BUT I have only bought one piece of furniture for the porch so far ...All the rest are things I have had for awhile...

I sat up a folding table ....Put out a few things ...I used my Black depression glass dishes PATTERN Mt. Pleasant....

This table is the only thing I have bought for the porch... I bought it at an Antique store here in town... If you have ever been to Charleston SC you know that all most all of the homes here in the city have Wrought Iron some where.... This table is made out of Antique reclaimed wrought iron from Charleston... I just Love it...

This is a close up of the table....You can see the wrought iron work here...
The table is made up of four very heavy pieces of this beautiful wrought iron...

I found these cute little iron stands at Good Will... All they needed was a little tinder loving care.

If you look close you can see they have a little rust, but other than that they are in good shape.

So I cleaned them up...Got out the rust - X.... Sprayed them down good ...

Then I gave them a good coat of black paint...

Miemie made the spooky ghost punch...It was a hit with all the little folk...

I put the punch in my vintage punch bowl pattern Block... You may have seen all my Block depression glasses...Love this pattern.

METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY

This is my office chair, it has sat in my office now for many years...It does its job well.. I have no complaints... But about a week ago... on the drive home from taking my daughter to school. I thought I might take a short detour into a neighborhood that's on my route home.. I just wanted to take a look at all the Fall decorations, maybe get a little inspiration... I went around a curve and, slow me down ... there on the curve sat the most beautiful leather office chair.... Yes just sitting there... I pulled over, got out of the car... and....

This is why that beautiful chair was on the curve... Do you see where the wheel is missing?

So I sat there for a minutes looking around... What would people think... The chair was calling my name... I knew I could find parts on the Internet... So I pulled, pushed, took it back out of the car turned it over ... more pulling and lots more pushing ... could not get the tail gate of my Mercedes to close...Almost but would not closed.... So I started to drive home (very slow) With the tail gate open ....Got home... the chair did not fall out.. So some more pulling and lots more pushing ..... and I got the chair in the house... Now I just can not believe my luck.... When my husband got home I talked him into taking the base off of the old chair and putting it on the new chair.... AND IT FIT....

So here is my new office chair...She is beautiful... and the best thing, she was free...Yes I said free... So keep your eyes open.... You never know what you might find...

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER

by Erma Bombeck (written after she found out she was dying from cancer).

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life..

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.' There would have been more 'I love you's' More 'I'm sorry's.' But mostly, given another shot at life,

I would seize every minute. Look at it and really see it . live it and never give it back.

STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!

Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.

Welcome, come on in... I have set a beautiful Fall Table just for you.

I just love Fall .. It is the start of the Holiday season... October is my birthday and Now I have even more to celebrate, October is my grand daughters birthday. Babycakes will celebrate her birthday one day before me...

For this fall tablescape I have used my Persimmon Fiesta dishes...

I have also pulled out my green depression glass desert plates...

I just love the way the green depression glass and the persimmon Fiesta complement each other.

The clear depression candle stick holders belonged to my Mother-in -law...She was the sweetest woman, I was truly blessed to have her as my Mother-in-law...

I just love these green depression glasses... My oldest daughter found eight more glasses at good will, and gave them to me just this Morning....

Found this Pumpkin tureen at G.W. a few years back.... Got to love good will...So many wonderful things turn up there.

MY NEW PORCH

If you have been following the progress of my new porch...You may remember when we pulled all the brick off the back of the house...

Then we cleaned all the mortar off the brick and moved it for safe keeping... The brick is about 30 years old so, I was trying to save as much of it as we could... Such hard work... and what a mess...

Yea.... Look I now have steps... I am not sure what I was looking forward to more, steps or screen...

CHICKEN POT PIE

Welcome to Foodie Friday.Be sure to stop by Designs by Gollum hosted by the sweet Michael for a virtual feast and a lot of inspiration!

CHICKEN POT PIE...

I would never eat Chicken Pot Pie until a friend gave me this recipe.... I have shared this recipe many times...

YOU WILL NEED:
1 boneless chicken boiled and cubed
( I use 2 chicken breast boiled and cubed)
2 cans Veg-All drained
( I add 3 big handfuls of frozen Lima beans to my pie)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can chicken broth
salt and pepper to taste and a couple of big pinches of Poultry seasoning to taste
1 or 2 frozen dip dish pie shells NOT cooked

FOR CRUST:
1 cup Bisquick - 1/2 cup for one pie
1 cup milk - 1/2 cup for one pie
1 stick butter - 1/2 stick for one pie

This will make two pies...
I like this pie the first night that you cook it ... my family will reheat and eat left overs....
Most of the time I make the filling.... fill 1 pie shell ... you can save the other half in the frig or it will freeze real nice.... then I make the crust for 1 pie...

While chicken is boiling, I mix vegetables , chicken, soup and broth in a bowl, salt , pepper and Poultry seasoning to taste... I also like to add about three big handfuls of frozen lima beans to my pie...

Cut chicken into bite size pieces... add to filling

As you can see I put 1/2 filling in pie shell... and I saved 1/2 and cooked a new pie two nights later...

Mix 1/2 cup bisquick,1/2 cup milk and 1/2 stick butter pour over filling to make top crust for 1 pie...

Bake at 350 for 45 to 60 minutes.....OH SO GOOD...

Boy the new porch is coming along. Just wait till you see it... I am going to have a little fun and just show you before and after pictures of different parts of the project... There is not much more left to be done, and I still can not decide on furniture or what color I want to go with. Should I wait and show you the whole porch after I have decorated . ( might be next summer) or do you want to see the porch now with pictures being added as I decorate? See the door... it is still painted the old color that the house was painted before we put the siding on...

The After ... Now the door has been painted to match the new siding... As you can see the house has been gray, well for 20 years.... I wanted to change the color when we put siding on but my husband liked the gray... I was just so happy to get the siding that I just agreed with the gray. I like the gray just thought a change would have been nice?

The Magic of Christmas: Macy's Traditions.... I have not taken a ride on the pink pig.... I do hope I will make it there this year.....

A treasured holiday tradition for more than 50 years, the Pink Pig was voted "Best Holiday Tradition" by Atlanta Magazine.... Generations of Atlantans have ridden the Pink Pig into the holiday season wearing "I Rode the Pink Pig" stickers with pride!

The train carries children and parents through a life-sized storybook. Macy's donates a portion of the proceeds to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta....

The ride goes up sometime in November every year...it marks the holiday shopping season...

It sits on top of Macy's, in a tent that has pink pig merchandise, pictures of pink pigs from the past, pink carpet, and a Christmas tree decorated with pigs....

These cute gingerbread men are really a tidbit tray, but I feel in love with them.... I also have a few little people that eat at my home during the holidays, that I am in love with... So... what a cute plate. Yes all kiddos eat dinner on a cute Ginger bread man plate at Aunt Juju's house, and now my grand children will join them at the kiddie table...

A Gingerbread man plate and a mug for hot coco...

A three tiered plate for fun stuff and you have a great table.... These pieces are among my favorite, and by far the ones I paid the most money for. I just love them.... The little kiddos that eat dinner at my home love them and think they are fun fun fun !

Last Thursaday I pulled out all my Fall colored dishes and if you remember I set the Table with my USA Brown Drip Dishes. I have been collecting them for about 33 years now.

This week I added some of my Depression Amber glass that I have been collecting for many years also...

I found the wonderful bead napkin ring holders this year. Both Belk and Dillards have them in stock now in our area. I think they look great with the Amber glass .

I think the Amber Glass really dresses up the Table.

I I have 4 girls, and I have tried to get each one of them to paint their first car pink.... They all have said no way......

If you could drive a pink car, which car would you drive.... Would you drive a pink car?

If your Pink car needed a tow... Would you call this Pink Toe Truck?

The pink Toe Truck still exists, but there are two of them. After the owners retired, the truck was moved to Lincoln Towing facility on Aurora Avenue north, just north of Home Depot. I believe you can still rent it out for weddings and special occasions.

My First Dishes

When I was a young bride , and set up my first home, my mother gave me six three piece place settings as a wedding gift.

Now this was 33 years ago...You could still walk into a store and buy them new in the box , You can only find them on e-bay and antique stores now... They are very collectible....

Over the years I have added many pieces to this collection...

For many years these dishes where my eveyday dishes....

I now pull them out and just use them in the Fall , September -November...

It is by far my largest collection of dishes , They are USA Brown Drip Dishes... I think I have about 200 pieces now...

Each week a little more gets done..... My son-in-law is doing all the electrical...... Lights, fans, and

lots of outlets.....

Babycakes dad worked as an electrician while he was in College...I have such great kids.....

The new concrete was poured for the patio...

We also had some tree work done...... Long over due...

Big Boys and there big toys...

This tree has needed to be removed for two years now... Can my yard get any worse...

This week I think we are all getting ready for Fall.... I pulled the tablecloth off my table, I think the dark color of the wood along with the new black chairs goes so well with fall colors...

I bought this table two years ago, the table is made by a local man that makes them out of old reclaimed barn wood.... When I bought this Table he told me that he was down to the last little bit of wood and that it is getting harder and harder to find this wood...

I just love it and wanted you to see what it always under my Tablecloth.... I also love the look for Fall...

And this little Beauty is an Amber basket that I bought years ago at an Antique store... So that's whats on my Table this week....
